“Sun Drop” is the name of the summer collection we created together, inspired by the colors of the season—sunsets, the sea—“which I think are things we all love about that time of year.”
Which part of the design process do you enjoy the most?
The part I enjoy most about the design process is when I see someone on the street wearing a VIDAL & VIDAL piece from my collection. For me, it’s like a dream come true.
What did you want to convey with this launch?
This collection is inspired by sunsets, by the reflections on the sea that bring back memories of our summers with family or friends. It’s a time of year when we all have beautiful memories, and with this collection we wanted to highlight that — to focus on the sensations that summer gives us. In the colors and shapes, you can feel summer, and that was one of the things we wanted to express.
Who are your references when designing a collection?
I’m very faithful to my style and intuition. It’s true that I pay attention to trends, but I always bring them into my own world—into what makes me feel comfortable.
In the end, we all get inspired by someone, by fashion icons, and I always—always—have my mother and grandmother in mind. Not so much in terms of their style, but in what they taught me: that you have to feel comfortable, elegant, and above all, that simplicity is the most important thing. That’s what they taught me.
