Interview with Maria G. de Jaime

“Sun Drop” is the name of the summer proposal we have created together, which is inspired by the colors of summer; by sunsets, by the sea, “which I believe is something we all love about that time of year.”

What part of the collection design process do you enjoy most?

The part I enjoy most about the design process is when I see someone on the street wearing a VIDAL & VIDAL piece from my collection. For me, it’s like having fulfilled a dream.

What did you want to convey with this launch?

This collection is inspired by sunsets, by the reflections on the sea, which bring us back memories of our summers with family or friends. It’s a time of year when we all have a beautiful memory, and in this collection we wanted to bet on that and focus on those feelings that summer gives you. In the end, in the colors and shapes, you can perceive summer and that was one of the things we wanted to convey.

Who are your references when designing a collection?

I’m very true to my style and my own intuition. It’s true that I pay a lot of attention to current trends, but I put my own spin on them, choosing what makes me feel comfortable.

In the end, we all get inspired by someone, by fashion references, and I always, always, always, even more in some collections than others, keep my mother and grandmother very present. Not so much in their style, but more in what they taught me: that you have to feel comfortable, elegant, and above all, that simplicity is the most important thing. They taught me that.

Without a doubt, you are a style icon. In three adjectives, how would you define your style?

Elegant, simple, and comfortable.

Which pieces from the “Sun Drop” capsule will be key in your summer outfits?

I couldn’t choose just one. I think each piece is for a different moment; to wear them combined or separately, in my favorite season of the year. I wanted to create jewelry with which any woman would feel identified. That piece that adds a touch of color to any look, accompanying you in everyday life and in special moments.
